Soluble in ethanol and glycol ether, slightly soluble in acetone, insoluble in other organic solvents. The aqueous solution is dark brown with concentrated hydrochloric acid; the concentrated sodium hydroxide is orange brown. It is purple in concentrated sulfuric acid, and it produces light red and brown precipitate after dilution. It is reddish brown in concentrated nitric acid. Slightly sensitive to hard water. |
